we needed to make this a low-budget girls weekend trip-opted to find a room where rates would be less costly-and still a short train ride to the city--got a 4star hotel for a fantastic rate--and it was nice to get away from the hectic pace of the city at the end of the day. Luckily our hotel provided a free shuttle to the train station-so we did the trip-gas,lodging and fares into town for 3 days-for less than $600(group of 5-meals not included). Our round trip car ride was about 1400miles-gas was about the same cost as our room for 3 nights. Loved the adventure-am thinking we'll go back in the fall or for spring break in 2009-and am starting to save for airfare now. The choices for fabric stores is so wonderful, and there are numerous shops that specialize in trims,buttons etc-which I did not get to visit-but from window shopping I know they have oodles of great selections. You must plan to visit--you'll get hooked.
