Subject: Im thinking of of buying a dress with a four layer skirt, According to the DM, it is pleated ruffles, and the lame is pleated and sewn on semi stiff. Has anyone worked with that kind of skirt/fabric? Does it hold up well? etc..

I think we are all afraid to say that lame is typically not a very durable fabric. Of course, you can find it as a high-end, better quality type, but your every day type of lame will shred quickly. Ask lots of questions of DM. (NT)my thoughtsFriday, November 11, 05:17:21pm

Lame will hold up much better if it is backed with something. By itself, not a good choice. With that said it also depends where the lame is on the dress. If it is one layer of the skirt between other types of fabric it should be OK. Biggest problem would be if it is the bottom layer of the skirt where the hard shoes would hit on a kick to butt.
