Is it becoming the norm in this society to be like this? You hear complaints about dressmakers not responding to customers, but what about the reverse? How many times a week I get emails about ordering a dress, a design is made, time spent on emails, scanning, fabric hunting, etc. Then nothing. No, thanks, but no thanks, I am not interested anymore, nothing. Im so tired of being lied to, and jerked around.
Please, don't treat us like this. I have bills to pay, and waiting around for someone that has no intention of ordering, and just wasting my time is not appreciated at all. Get some manners and respect. Just venting. I feel better now.

Never, EVER send a sketch/hunt for fabrics/etc. until the customer has paid the deposit. Give them a quote based on their ideas, let them know what your schedule looks like, that sort of thing. Then book the dress, or send them on their way. It's frustrating to deal with the wishy-washy people, but it's part of the job (gotta love customer service!). When a potential customer emails me inquiring about a custom dress I direct them to my website where I have ordering information. I require a deposit to hold their time slot and do not do any work until then. (NT)sequin queenSunday, March 16, 04:33:51pm

That's exactly why I'm switching to off the racks. Tired of the picky customers and being let down. Of course the majority are lovely, but it's the bad ones I remember (NT).Sunday, March 16, 05:47:10pm

Same here---I never send a design, search for fabrics, etc until I receive the deposit. (NT)bgTuesday, March 18, 03:53:41pm
