Subject: You need to acknowledge that every dressmaker is different. Just be clear up front what level of communication you want. I request that my client's give me all of their wants and don't wants up front and I take it from there. I will then show them a pic of the dress under construction. I then allow minor changes, but otherwise, that is their dress. This has worked for all but two of my many clients.

I compensate for this by charging a lesser price than many others. I have found that nearly every dancer was thrilled with the dress when they received it, even if they weren't so sure with the photo. The client needs to remember that they are paying for the experience of a true dressmaker.

These are all great tips - thank you! I'd never bug a dressmaker daily about progress, but am glad to hear design input is acceptable from most designers! Wish I could order a dozen dresses, all the SNDMs I've looked at or talked to are fantastic! (NT)OPTuesday, May 20, 10:00:11am
