Subject: I noticed that many DM's have come across problem clients. Sometimes it all seems fine and then when you get started things turn for the worse. So, I wondered it there was a database of these problem clients would you use it? Would you want access to that to save yourself the trouble?

I am a mom who is friends with a DM and I see what some of her clients put her through. It sometimes is a case of if I had known I would never have worked with them. You know the ones. So, I thought I would start a private database for DM's to access to save yourselves a little trouble. It would be a small fee for a yearly subscription. You can submit names with the issues you found to the database and you could inquire if a potential client were on the list. The list as a whole would never be published, you can only inquire if the person is on the list and why they are. No one other then myself would ever have the completed list.

The intent is not to out the problem clients it would be to prevent you from spending countless hours dealing with someone known to be high maintenance or have real issues. It would help you and others.

What do you think?

I would not pay for it as there is no need for it. There is enough of a network that DMs can privately ask each other about PITAs. There is also the yahoo group and Taoknitter's private forum where these questions can be asked safely. Why do you want to charge us already underpaid dms? (NT)no thanks!Friday, July 04, 07:48:49am

I think the real PITA's are easy to spot after one or two emails with them. It is the "lurking" kind of trouble you don't want. This might sometimes even include "problem" TCRG's...There are always 2 sides to a story as well, so once you are on the blacklist as a customer, how will you get removed? (NT)not sure 'bout thisFriday, July 04, 08:02:10am

I would be concerned, too, that this would work in reverse. There are always those clients that badmouth dms on the boards, tarnishing reputations for what may have been personal differences and not related to a dm's skill. (NT)cmFriday, July 04, 08:16:13am

As a former long-time DM who still visits this board on occasion, I dislike this idea completely, although I imagine the idea was hatched from frustration. I worked w/local & long-distance customers for almost 10 yrs, & can count perhaps 2 difficult clients in all those yrs. More inside....former DMFriday, July 04, 02:14:38pm

Then turn around.is fairplay We stood on our heads and pleaded to get our dress and had tons of issues with a dm. Do buyers get a "bad dm list"? Of course not! If we even bring up issues on the boards, we get lamblasted. So we will just have to put up with each other I guess. (NT).Friday, July 04, 11:00:56pm

nice idea, but it's illegal (NT)-Saturday, July 05, 08:16:19pm

After a serious "burn" this year I would gladly post the name of this client and would happily pay to avoid her or equal again. I made 2 dresses, one of which was never returned until I threatened to list it as stolen. Would love to see someone else avoid her (NT)MJSaturday, July 05, 08:54:55pm

Looks like the consensus is NO. (NT)not workableSunday, July 06, 03:22:52pm
