| Subject: As a former long-time DM who still visits this board on occasion, I dislike this idea completely, although I imagine the idea was hatched from frustration. I worked w/local & long-distance customers for almost 10 yrs, & can count perhaps 2 difficult clients in all those yrs. More inside.... |

's message, "I noticed that many DM's have come across problem clients. Sometimes it all seems fine and then when you get started things turn for the worse. So, I wondered it there was a database of these problem clients would you use it? Would you want access to that to save yourself the trouble?" on Friday, July 04, 07:02:03am
I admit to being a follow-up "nut" - I had so many email exchanges that I became close friends w/many of my customers. I feel the time spent knowing your customer will just about eliminate the database you propose. My two "difficult clients" were very extreme in their expectations - something they didn't expect from big name DMs, hence my frustration. It was ok for them to pay several hundred $ more and have multiple "issues" with big name DMs, but they drove me close to nervous-breakdown in nit-picking and taking up my personal time when ordering from me. I learned a very good lesson each time, and became more clear in what I offered. I didn't allow myself to be taken advantage of after that. As another poster said, different personalities also work better w/different DMs. A database would be truly unfair - many times a "difficult" customer would have been just fine had they clear expectations of what they would get from the DM. And, the DM should be very clear in what they offer - go overboard and spell it out in advance!
