Subject Author Date And if your daughter is a 5'9" U20 dancer, 4" above the knee may be too long. My daughter's newest dress is 6" above the knee and it looks right. I wish they would use a different standard for length -- I have been advocating the rule that most high schools use for skirts and shorts -- the hem must be at least to the fingertips -- allows for height variances, but is still modest.
