Subject: Our new dress has arrived without crystals. I purchased two gross size 40 (bling, bling) but, before I risk ruing my dd's new dress, what is the trend toward embellishing? It is a soft skirt...do I put crystals on the skirt too? What about the sleeves? I have all these crystals but don't know where to start right now. Finally, what is the newest trend in headbands? Are the solid crystal bands still popular? Thanks

Highlight the bodice first-then the sleeves-then the skirt-but lightest (NT)on the skirtWednesday, July 29, 02:32:44pm

Look around at some of the higher $$ dresses for sale, and NANS pics to get ideas. Our schools 'newest' Gavins have been crystalled from top to bottom in center of embroidery. Sham Stitch have non-breaking outlines of stones. (NT)yes on headbandsWednesday, July 29, 03:26:48pm

What I do is lie the dress down and lay out your crystals on the dress, leave it a while before you start to glue, I usually change the layout a bit until I am happy and then start gluing when I am happy with how it looks. Don't just start gluing without laying out first. (NT)My adviceWednesday, July 29, 04:52:05pm

The more crystals the better, anywhere and everywhere they will fit! (NT)You can't have to manyWednesday, July 29, 04:53:21pm

Saw a dress at the weekend that had the whole area around the neck done in colored and clear crystals looked like about 10 gross of crystals looked amazing on stage also had the skirt ruffles outlined in crystals (NT)momWednesday, July 29, 06:46:39pm

If your dress has embroidery that 'pops' make sure you don't cover that with crystals. I've noticed some folks overdo it and actually cover up the best parts of a dress. In between and inside - and yes, layout first, stand at least 4 ft. away and decide. (NT)best of luck..Wednesday, July 29, 06:48:32pm

OP-you say you have 2 Gross-each Gross is 144 stones-correct? so total of 288? I think you'll find they get used up (NT)quickly-don't forget the cape!Wednesday, July 29, 06:53:01pm

My opinion is you will definately need way more stones. The 40s might be nice for accents here and there but I think you will need smaller crystals also.fellow stonerThursday, July 30, 01:03:51pm

Suggestions on where to buy more? I purchased the ones I have from my favorite costume store when I was in Las Vegas...should have bought more. (NT)OPThursday, July 30, 03:56:43pm
