Wondering whether anyone has advice for shipping a dress from Canada to the US. I have a limited time frame (just over 1 week) to get a dress from Western Canada to Eastern US and am wondering what the best way is to list the dress on the customs form so as to avoid delays. Currently looking into Canada Post, UPS, and Fedex as shipping options.

Thanks!

If the person shipping is near the border, can they ship from the US? That would be fastest. Otherwise I've seen advice to label it as used children's clothing, but the insurance value could still trip a customs check. Best of luck!! (NT)~KrisThursday, November 14, 10:54:41am

Yup, I also do the childrens clothing label or used cotten dress valued at $200. So far, haven't had any troubles and dresses get there in 3-4 days using Express post Canada post. Not gauranteed so make sure the buyer knows it's out of your control if it does get held up... (NT)KDFriday, November 15, 09:38:13am

careful labelling it as a child's costume. due to the newly implemented lead laws it may be opened and held up in customs if it has crystals. better simply to label it as a dance costume. (NT)xFriday, November 15, 12:26:59pm

Just wanted to update and say that the dress arrived without any delays at its destination, and looks even better than in the photos! Marked it as a "used costume" and used Canada Post's 3-day "XpressPost" Thanks for the tips! (NT)Excited MAR dancer =)Wednesday, November 20, 11:50:15pm
