Subject: Would love some ideas for crystals on white satin

Blinging Mom

Hi, we're in the home stretch before the O. and are blinging a lovely SNDM OTR solo dress. DD's teachers prefer only clear crystal or crystal AB because that's what Gavin's shop uses. I think they use only those to make things simple -- they make and bling a large number of dresses, fast! It is DD's last dress, and she has chosen matching colored crystals for the embroidery. She wants to do a scattering of crystals on the white satin bodice and sleeves, as well, but doesn't want the harsh polka-dot look of clear crystals (her words, not mine).

She wants to try small "opal" crystals instead. I'm afraid that they won't sparkle enough to be worth the bother and expense. Does anyone have experience with the opal crystals, or have an alternative to suggest? I need to get this order in right away; nothing like waiting until the last week, LOL! Thank you so much.

I used opal once & didn't care for them. They do not sparkel as much & look cloudy. (NT)MOFriday, November 15, 04:55:21pm

I would definitely stick with crystal or crystal AB (NT)for the best sparkleFriday, November 15, 07:01:58pm

I agree with the other posters, the opals are very milky and don't sparkle well at all. (NT).Friday, November 15, 09:53:39pm

AB's and clear work very well on white. I use it all the time (NT).Saturday, November 16, 06:50:28am

Thank you All! (NT)OPSaturday, November 16, 10:53:24pm

try the "unfoiled" AB crystals. They are just as shiny but have a little opal look (NT)MJWednesday, November 20, 03:33:00pm

to avoid the polka dot look, use smaller sizes! SS16 is my favorite for a scattered look - they're small enough to not be seen as large crystals, but will have enough glimmer and shine to catch the lights! (NT)love the blingWednesday, February 19, 03:18:12am
