Subject: Have been at this for 12 years and now seriously considering doing only OTRs - tired of jumping through hoops for families, replacing skirts, adding crystals, alterations only to have them order a BNDM next season. Suppose I should be grateful I dont have to deal with them and curious as to how they deal with the BNDM. I REFUSE to do alterations on these dresses and could about cry when I see the embroidery, construction. Who wouldnt want to quit?

This all sounds so familiar and I did just actually "quit" dressmaking and found a new job. I have had lovely clients, but I am tired of the dressmaking hierarchy, the politics, the losing customers to BNDM that they complain about, the customers who cancel for legitimate reasons (broken leg, quitting dance) but leave me with a hole in my income, the constant pressure to recreate new styles just from a photo, etc. Time for something new. Good luck to all of you! (NT)Alison ThrasherThursday, November 21, 10:42:03pm
