Subject: I think technically, the skirt has to hit at least halfway between the BACK of the knee and the gluteal fold...not that ANY judge gets out there with a ruler, but...use that point from the ground and you have your dress length.

In reply to: Thanks 's message, "Does anyone have a formula for calculating overall dress length from the dancer's height please? Just to give an average dress length, for a start?" on Monday, December 02, 03:47:00pm

On average, the back dress length is half the dancer's height. Doesn't work for unique shapes, small ones, etc. Desired length is also subjective as usually prizewinner wear longer than prelim or open champs. Also we see regional differences and teacher preferences. (NT)AVERAGETuesday, December 03, 09:47:58am

Thank you! That's exactly what I was looking for. I know it's not a perfect measurement, just an average for quoting an initial approximate price. (NT)OPTuesday, December 03, 02:18:22pm
