Subject: May I ask what a typical stitch count is for you? Do you have a lot of knot work with over/unders? I find that designs with flowing shapes/swirls go very quickly, but knotwork takes me forever! Especially the double outlined knotwork appliques.

In reply to: ! 's message, "But it doesn't take two or more days for one dress, once you are experienced. I've never used the auto digitise button, wouldn't know what it does, but my embroidery is certainly not messy or sloppy, and I can do a whole dress in a few hours. Maybe I've just had plenty of practise" on Thursday, February 13, 03:06:49am

If I'm doing a heavily appliqued, double outlined bodice from neck to mid bodice or waistline I'm looking at anywhere from 70,000 - 100,000 stitiches on a .3 density. Single straight stitch run to mark applique placement, another single stitch copy and pasted to hold applique in place then .3 density satin stitch overtop. (NT)End product looks great, but is taking ages!Thursday, February 13, 01:12:34pm

I usually do 150,000 - 200,000 stitches, sometimes more on a pair of sleeves, or on a bodice. I often do a lot of knotwork with overs and unders, but digitise single lines first, then digitise wide satin stitch (or applique) for the actual knotwork, and delete the original placement lines. Once I've done a little bit of the design, I can usually duplicate it up and just adjust the ends of each section for the right look, saving heaps of time, so (NT)a few hours is enough for a dress.Thursday, February 13, 02:15:14pm
