In reply to: Just need some extra hands 's message, "Going rates for assistants to do piece work or hourly??" on Thursday, February 13, 08:25:50pm

Now, I work fast, so I add some time to that and then multiply by what I am willing to pay an hour to them get a "per piece" price. That way if they take longer, I'm not paying thru the nose. I also give them the piece I made, so they know what quality I expect in return. I make it clear up front that if they don't think they can do it, then I have to pass on them. And that I will assess the situation after what they do the first time.

Definitely a great idea. I'd say I work at an average speed, so even adding a little time to my speed would be a good gauge. Thanks for your input, (NT)appreciated.Saturday, February 15, 09:37:37am
