My normal rule of thumb is to back EVERYTHING except the cotton bodice lining... but I found a great lycra for the skirt lining, and I'm wondering how everyone else deals with it. It's a 4 way stretch heavy lycra, and would be used to back a skirt about 12 inches long, so there shouldn't be much excess to stretch. Would you all use a fusible interfacing, or would this fabric be the exception to the rule? Thank you for your help!

heavy stretch lycra is very heavy and will add weight to the dress especially as a lining (NT)If you decide to use it you'll have to stabilizeFriday, August 08, 05:51:48pm

I've used heavy lycras for the skirt lining before and didn't stablize. I never noticed any sagging later on... It doesn't sound like you're using enough to make the weight noticable, so I'd go for it w/out stablizing (NT)best of luckFriday, August 08, 09:44:27pm

I have used it as a lining and not stabilized it. But I did spray glue it down to the inner layer and then it hung and held up nicely. (NT).Friday, August 08, 11:28:20pm

I agree with the first reply - why would you choose to make a dress heavier than necessary? (NT)Girls all love lightweight dresses.Saturday, August 09, 01:52:19am

Any particular type of spray glue? Where do you find it? (NT)approaching 1st dressSaturday, August 09, 05:04:33pm
