I have a Husqvarna Huskylock S25 and I like it. I don't know that I think it's as good with some of the heavier duty stuff that you do for Irish dresses. Sewing lightweight ruffles works very well. (NT)Terri E COSaturday, September 03, 10:31:01am

OP. Thank you all..I did some more research and am considering the Brother 1034D. Anyone have a "no" opinion on that one? (NT)thank you again!Saturday, September 03, 02:18:22pm

I don't know my model number offhand but love my baby lock serger. It has the automatic threading and that is amazing. (NT).Monday, September 05, 06:23:01pm

I have separate coverstitch and overlock (serger) machines. I've only ever used the coverstich on stretch performance costumes. For cupcake ruffles look for a machine that has a simple mechanism to convert from overlocking to rolled hem. Overlockers are also good for attaching the lining to the top fabric if you're not going to do a bagged lining. I've just got a bog standard machine and although I'd like less trouble with threading it I don't think the extra $$ are worth it for the feature ... (NT)BeatriceMonday, September 05, 07:59:26pm
