Subject: I was going to suggest the same thing. We got through some of dd's 'blossoming' by having a dm friend insert a panel of matching fabric in the side seams from the armpit to the waist. It was barely noticeable and gave us a couple of inches which got us through the rest of the year. It truly was not noticeable unless you were specifically looking for it.

In reply to: nn 's message, "An easy way to make a dress a little wider in the chest area is to open the seam of the under-arm area of both, bodice and sleeve and and sew a kite-shaped piece of fabric into the opening. Barely visible and it doesn´t do any damage to the actual dress as you can use the line that´s already there and take the bit out again and sew everything back together." on Thursday, September 01, 02:10:43pm
