Subject: How to prevent/fix wrinkles in Stretch Velvet?

I bought a lovely dress which is made out of stretch velvet. The bodice fits my daughter well, but has a lot of wrinkling throughout the the bodice. Is it possible for me to fix this issue on an existing dress? If so, how should it be done? How could it have been prevented?

Is the wrinkling caused by crushing due to packing/storage or as the result of improper application of a backing material? If it is the former, try steaming the wrinkles or placing a towel over the wrinkled area & pressing on top of the towel. (NT)Never apply an iron directly to velvet nap.Thursday, July 11, 03:52:30pm

I had an experience when the fusible interfacing started pulling off the stretch velvet. Since I had made the dress I was very comfortable ironing it back down with a scrap piece of velvet used as a pressing cloth (nap to nap) (NT)Hop_123Friday, July 12, 03:30:32pm
