Subject: I cut the stiffener out of the seam allowence (3/4-1.5" - whatever extra you leave at the top), but not around the point. I've seen both, but prefer to leave the interfacing complete in case of future alterations.

In reply to: Q 's message, "when attaching a long bodice --topstitched over the still skirt---do you cut away the extra stiff skirt at the waist, under the bodice, or do you leave it?" on Monday, August 26, 08:02:26am

Leave it and let the curstomer do it if they want. Some shapes benefit from it, some don't. (NT)meMonday, August 26, 12:12:33pm

I ended up hand sewing the skirt onto the dress on top of the stablizer. I found this to be what needed to be done as I did not want to cut away any of the stabilizer. I then hand sewed a belt that I made on top of the skirt and bodice. It took a while but it came out looking nice. (NT)id momMonday, August 26, 09:13:13pm
