I've done a few skirts now using a long rectangle as the skirt. I've fussed with the side seams, snipping them up at a curved angle trying to give the skirt the right shape from the front. Question is, should I be pulling it up at the sides at the top of the skirt instead of the bottom? Not sure if this is making any sense or not but I appreciate any help anyone is willing to offer.

Yes. Try raising the side seam as you gather and curve the strip around the skirt. (NT)You got it.Tuesday, September 17, 08:43:39am

Hey - I hear you. The worst are the box pleats with a band of different color fabric at the hem. I can't get the edge to sit right - where the fabric makes a U turn into the pleat. I cringe every time a customer asks for those! Sorry, can offer sympathy, but no help! (NT)another sndmTuesday, September 17, 10:07:33am

Does anyone use a rule of thumb for how much higher the side seam should be or is it just an eyeballing kind of thing? Like side should be about 3 inches higher than the lowest center of skirt etc?? (NT)worth a shotWednesday, September 25, 09:43:30am
