You can have a tiny arm hole and super fitted sleeve, but to move your arm the shoulder seam can not hang over the shoulder joint. Ann from Tao Knitter explains it well, and has great photos. You need to fit the upper chest correctly. You also need the dancer to correct her posture. No one should be yanking their shoulders back. The difference between standing and 'dancer pose' should be minimal.
