Subject: Rehooping on large machine question.

While the large hoop on the big machine is great, I've hit an obstacle. I'm trying to do an embroidered pattern around the edge of the skirt. Even with a nice wide hoop span, I won't be able to get my pattern all the way along my 60inch piece of fabric.

Normally, when I have something that needs to be rehooped, I digitize a placement line on the first hooping, then repeat it for the second hoop and place my piece for the remaining embroidery.

My problem this time is I have a continuous repeating pattern that I want around the edge of the skirt. I was hoping to do a skater style skirt (large folding pleats usually with trim of ribbon around the edge).

1. Am I rehooping incorrectly? Should I be using the hoop layout/rehooping feature on my software (Bernina V6)? Ashamed to say I've never used it, my way usually works great for me.
2. Should I scratch the idea of a full skater skirt requiring 60 or more inches of fabric and just do a less full gathered skirt?
3. Am I over analyzing this?

Apologies for all the questions, but I'm stumped. I welcome any and all input anyone is willing to share!!

Thanks!

Here is what I do---I only have the border frame so I rehoop alotasSunday, October 06, 09:50:59am

you don't have to pick the lines....asTuesday, October 08, 07:44:02am

Or simply join pieces of embridered fabric together, hiding the seams inside the pleats (NT)?Tuesday, October 08, 05:29:47pm

I do it slightly differently. I stitch the line out on the stabilizer, spray it with adhesive, line up my fabric, use a couple of pins to hold it until the basting box stitches, and then stitch. Works for me and I can use all of my hoop/frame because I don't have to be able to move the design around in the frame to line it up. (NT)BJFriday, October 11, 06:14:41pm
