In reply to: Need in 's message, "Ok, so where did you say all the DM's are going with comments and blogs now? Definitely not here anymore." on Wednesday, March 14, 11:20:50pm

and have not been kicked off although my posts are irregular. I've posted pix of my dresses and I've answered a few questions where I can. If I were taken off for inactivity I'd just rejoin. I can't see the issue, it's not personal it's just a rule to make it a true forum where there is an open exchange of ideas. It's not protectionist and doesn't speak in code. The more people who join it and bust open the IDD secrets the better as far as I'm concerned.

I've posted answers here and asked a few questions generally with helpful and friendly answers but I don't feel any comraderie or real encouragement which is a shame because a professional approach to any craft (whether hobby or business) does not necessarily not preclude either. Contributors don't have to reveal their secrets and their techniques, but if you are reluctant to share why are you here? Yes it can be annoying when someone asks "Where can I get a pattern" or "I can't sew but can you tell me how to make an ID dress" but a polite answer surely is a better response than some of the ugly comments I have seen here. I'm sure the anonymity of this board does not assist in keeping a minority of the members' baser instincts in check.

I'll keep reading the board but mostly I read it for entertainment when there's no wrestling on TV. I'll be cheering for the wrestler with the most current skirt shape.

Well said Barbara. I feel the same way. Back when i started making dresses - 12 years ago - a really sweet DM that I met online was SO much help to me. I've since helped newbies. Why not after all? I think IDD is great! It's a wonderful place to share ideas, ask a question, get or give help etc. Kudos to Ann! (NT)Old DMThursday, March 22, 10:03:47am
