I've not seen any of the newer sequins skirts up close and have been reading with interest that there is no stiff panel underneath. Would it be best to cut the fabric in a strip on the bias and pleating/gathering or would cutting it as a circle skirt be a better way to go? Subject Author Date In my experience, a strip is easy in the beginning but there is a bunch of gathering and pleating in the hip area and I found it difficult to sew through when attaching the bodice. I would think moreso with sequins. If you have the luxury of the extra fabric, I would think the semi-circle would be less bulky. (NT) x Monday, July 16, 09:50:57am I've looked at a lot of underskirts - in person and online = and Gavin/Elevation/Celtic star all use stiffener to keep their skirt shape. Gavin & Celtic star in particular are using a narrow (2-4") strip at the top, with "legs" down the sides. Layers of netting & ruffles attached to that, with the top layer(s) covering it all. None of the layers go above the skirt yoke (which most have) to keep the waist seam managable.
