Subject: But just before ruling it out completely....you do need an extra inch or two of breathing space in the bodice width, so you actually only need to take it in an inch or two, which should be possible down a combination of sides seams and darts. If all the other measurements (sleeve length, bodice length, skirt length, total length) are OK, and if your daughter's measurements are of her without any extra added for breathing room, then I would say the alterations could definitely work.
