Subject: The current trend works perfectly for the large scale dressmakers. The equipment to produce this type of dress is extremely expensive, yet it is the only way to make a dress in a timely manner. Any dressmaker would have to fully commit to a high amount of costumes to make it profitable. Very hard for the part=time dressmaker.

In reply to: sdm 's message, "With all the new style dresses covered in heavy embroidery from neck to hem, have you had to increase your costs to include all the extra time, drawing designs, planning lay out, extra machine time? they are taking forever to make and buyers expect to pay the same as a far simpler design..." on Wednesday, February 10, 10:26:33am

My solution was to simply work more efficiently and faster, with embroidery for one dress going while I put together another and think about the design for a third. Not that hard to do (NT).Friday, February 12, 06:26:18am

An interesting idea, but that assumes one was working inefficiently before. What you have described is what many companies are requiring of workers, lay-off workers and expect the rest to do twice the work for the same pay. I guess our customers are no different than large corporations. (NT)Sigh.Friday, February 12, 08:31:49am
