Was it a design that was supplied to a client and taken to another designer or was it a modified version of a design you suppled or made on another dress? (NT)Sadly happens more than you might think, not fun...Monday, March 07, 08:48:15am

That is not the fault of the dressmaker. How could they know the client didn't draw the design. The problem is with a very dishonest customer. Never, ever supply a design without first getting a deposit. I'm sorry this happened to you. (NT)xMonday, March 07, 04:31:57pm

I don't know who the dressmaker is. I tried to talk to the client, but she walked away(very rude) when I confronted her. Did mail her an invoice today. Waiting on the reaction now. (NT)sndmMonday, March 07, 04:48:17pm

Also wanted to mention that I thought I could trust this customer, made dresses for her for years. She never pulled a trick like this before. (NT)sndmMonday, March 07, 04:54:57pm

Send the client an invoice for your design (NT)!Tuesday, March 08, 05:38:32am

I would think if the design was publicly available then it's fair game. Can't copyright designs. Same as knockoffs of brand name garments/accessories. (NT)Lesson learnedTuesday, March 15, 03:48:30am

I would still show the original design edit to the dressmaker. Any of us would be mortified to know we unknowingly stole someone elses exact design. Tell them you realize they likely didn't know and you're hoping they'll bring it up with the TC. (NT)just my two centsWednesday, March 16, 09:36:45am
