Subject: Stiffener and lining (First time making Irish Step Dress)

What type of stiffener are you all using? I've tried to source Vilene's but it seems the online stores that were selling it are no longer selling it.

What is a close Pellon equivalent?

For the bodice lining, what type of fabric do you use? I'm trying the Guana Rince pattern and she suggests a lightweight twill. I was thinking of using silk organza.

Thank you!

I've used Pellon 520 Deco-Fuse. It's thin, but fairly stiff. You can always use two layers if you want it to be heavier. (NT)dmMonday, August 08, 11:46:52am

like pellon...bgTuesday, August 09, 08:41:51am

For dancer comfort, most bodices are lined with cotton muslin or something slightly heavier depending on the outer fabric. (NT)LynnToledoFriday, August 12, 08:01:35am

I use Pellon decor bond, and line with cotton broadcloth.DMTuesday, August 16, 01:52:23pm
