I have been asked to sew ribbons into the inside of an Irish Dress to make a cinch to make the dress smaller. I work in theatrical costumes and have never heard of such a thing. could anyone offer a picture, video or instruction? I am at a loss on this one. I have never worked on an Irish dress before.

Just sew lengths of strong ribbon to the bodice side seams, inside the dress, at the natural waist and perhaps also at the bust, so they can be tied tightly in a bow before zipping up the dress. Any extra pleat at the zip should be covered by the shawl. (NT)That's the aim anyway!Wednesday, February 01, 03:36:57pm
