Subject: Strange request: Would anyone maybe sew a dress with no embroidery/crystals and we handle that ourselves? We love the style Alison Thrasher made tennis/cheer skirt (link: http://www.dance.net/topic/8294119/1/Irish-Champs/Got-our-new-solo-dress.html&replies=22) ...Weird but possible? Don't need until September or so...We're on a crazy tight budget, trying to subsist on now one income in this lovely economy. Know it's a tall order but...

I think I can help. E-mail me. (NT)MarySunday, June 21, 04:16:35pm

Ii think you would probably be better off spending your money on a 2nd hand dress rather than risk looking like you "went cheap" and therefore have less resale value. (NT).Sunday, June 21, 06:08:31pm

Dear OP, what you are asking is different vs. a client who would like most of the "bells and whistles", and a deeply discounted price as well. You are asking for considerably less work in exchange for a price cut. The customers being discussed above often--understandably in these tough times--would like a great bargain, but also want a very similar look to a moderate priced big name or full price local dressmaker dress. That's what is difficult to resolve for a DM trying to make a living. (NT)So Cal TrishWednesday, June 24, 12:33:26am

Dear OP, I feel your pain, but echo the above comments. The style dress you linked is involved, uses alot of fabric and needs applique or embroidery to look good. I charge $1150 and up for the cheerleader style. Have you considered this style dress: http://www.dance.net/viewImage.html?image_id=317483&page=1. It could be made for far less with some simple machine embroidery (NT)Good luck with your searchFriday, June 26, 08:41:40am
