Well, because these are skilled crafts-people/artists, not minimum wage workers - although if you actually figured it out, they are making about minimum wage or less. I would say the average dress takes probably a weeks worth of work or more. How much does your plumber/mechanic/carpenter/hairdresser make an hour? I would venture to say more than $20.
