Never did the bag lining.Felt guilty about it until I once has the chance to alter a "big name" with a bag lining, and the mess I found under that lining made me feel great about my neat, easily altered dresses. (NT)*Tuesday, September 13, 01:02:04pm

I couldn't have said it better. I won't even consider altering the BNDM's who do the bag lining. They are way too difficult to alter and no one wants to pay what would be charged to remake them to fit. I don't want the responsibility. And yes, I attach all lining pieces to the outer fabric and anyone can have my dresses altered. Great selling point. (NT)AgreedTuesday, September 13, 02:03:29pm

I only bag line dresses for adult dancers who don't want to sell their dress. All others I attach lining to outer fabric. (NT)dmTuesday, September 13, 02:19:37pm

Would never bother bag lining. (NT)I enjoy the easy adjustments.Tuesday, September 13, 02:45:11pm

I never bag line - always have attached lining to the outer pieces - looks nice and neat, is easily altered and you can show the customer what is there to let out. (NT)dcTuesday, September 13, 04:58:21pm

ok---unanimous decision! you've swayed me away from the bag... (NT)op-now bag-free :)Tuesday, September 13, 09:34:58pm

I sew the darts in the lining, darts in the fashion fabric, then serge the layers together with darts inside. The side seams and center back are easily accessible for alterations, but I can hide the clipped darts and it looks nice and neat. (NT)--Thursday, September 15, 08:02:23pm

I always bag line as it's easier to replace with older dancers. I have a dress that is 'lined' by the fabric attached to the main dress fabric and i can't get it out so having to bag line overtop. Technically it's not lining if it's attached to the main fabric, it's called backing the fabric. That's what I was taught anyways. (NT)dmSaturday, September 24, 02:38:35pm
