Subject: Had one of those! The dancer sent me a lovely sketch, it wasn't anything that I saw on any dressmakers website/facebook so I made some adjustments as requested and made the dress. After finishing the dress pictures from a BNDM popped up with a remarkably similar design. There wasn't anything I could do at that point, but it was a good reminder to be careful!

In reply to: JMHO 's message, "I prefer not to work with dancer's designs. There is too much concern that the design may not be totally original. More than once I have had people send me "their" design, only to then see the EXACT SAME design from a bndn. I know there are dressmakers that don't mind using dancer's own designs, but I'm just more comfortable with my own." on Friday, April 12, 04:00:07pm

Luckily for me I caught them before I actually made the dresses (one of the designs was a dress from a girl in my dd's school!), but it was a real wake-up call to me to be extra careful before agreeing to do a "dancers" design. (NT)--Friday, April 12, 09:54:56pm
