Subject: One of the dancers in our school has a skirt with sequin trim on the bottom edge. She complains that the sequins scratch up her legs.

I'd line with a matching color that shows a smidge below the sequins.

In reply to: Any ideas? 's message, "What do you ladies think about the best way to finish the bottom edge of a gathered sequin fabric skirt? I don't really want to bind it with a satin band. Could I leave the cut edge and not finish it? It's sequins on mesh. Line it with lightweight fabric and let that seam be the hem? Serge it? Fold under a hem and hand stitch? It's dd's dress so I can please myself." on Wednesday, May 01, 06:18:04pm

I like to bag line them with organza or light satin or lining material (depending on the color). Keeps the hem clean and tidy, and gives the potentially droopy sequins a bit of body. (NT)--Thursday, May 02, 02:10:28pm
