Hello ladies,

I have found a singer U20 Industrial machine with a zig zag stitch on a local for sale site. Any opinions on this machine? I've seen it mentioned a few times on here and I'm looking for a reliable, heavy duty machine. Asking price $500.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

It's a good brand & model. What is the going rate for your area? How old is the machine? The older machines that were made in japan have a better reputation (higher quality parts apparently). Has it been serviced recently? Are you comfortable with faster sewing speeds? Are you aware of how loud they are? Do you sew enough to make it worth while? Can you test it on fabrics you use? I agree on testing it out---make sure you are comfortable using it. (NT)bgTuesday, May 21, 07:46:20am

Is there an "old sewing maching guy" near you for future repairs. Does it come with the motor table or has it been outfitted with a heavy duty portable motor? Do you have room for the commercial table/motor set up? (NT)LynnToledoTuesday, May 21, 09:22:55am

Thank you so much! Have just sent a note asking how old it is. Definitely have use for it, looking to replace my ancient semi industrial with a better model. Have a great local guy for repairs (he's almost like family with how often he's been coming to fix the old machine haha) Will also ask to test fabrics like sequins, velvet and layers of vilene etc. (NT)lfoTuesday, May 21, 09:40:43am
