Subject: Had the same problem about 6 years ago with a tc. This happened on another continent, so not the same tc. He had me buy all the materials and I made a design and proto type dress. He then said : "Sorry, parents don't like the dress design."

In reply to: SDC 's message, "An FYI for any dressmakers who are approached by a New England AD:" on Thursday, June 27, 02:03:04pm

In fact the parents were asking me when they could order the school dress, because they loved the design.
Asked several times for payment for materials, he said I had to buy because he wanted me to go ahead with the dresses, and the design. He never paid and I got stuck with material that can't be used for solo's.
Dear fellow dressmakers, read these stories and learn from them! Now I use a contract, but I thought I could trust a tc. Not any more.
Good luck to the dressmakers trying to retrieve your money.

Question for SDC, we are looking for a dressmaker for school costumes. Where are you based out of? (NT)Very InterestedSunday, June 30, 12:42:16pm

Lol! Actually, I am no longer doing costuming as I no longer have access to embroidery machines and have another job. But thanks for the interest....and good luck! If anyone talented comes to mind I will post, if you send a quick email to the addy link in my name. (NT)SDCSunday, June 30, 03:54:44pm

Colleen O'Neill makes great school costumes. I think you can contact her through taoknitter or FB. (NT)Nice workSunday, June 30, 06:55:32pm

Is there anyone north/west of Boston interested in taking over a very small order of school dresses (abt 5/year, A line unstiffened and embroidered)? You can email me if you would prefer (NT)SDCMonday, July 01, 04:41:45pm

Sullivan/Shea Enterprises does ours and they are great to work with and the quality is beautiful. They are out of Milwaukee but all of our dresses fit as if they were measured by them on premises. Email me for contact if you want. (NT)TrishTuesday, July 16, 05:18:42pm
