I'm interested in a used dress, however, the skirt needs an update. How much would it cost to put a new skirt on an old dress? Thanks for your help!

This is the type of skirt I'm interested in https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=470712249637739&set=a.177797718929195.32077.175469375828696&type=3&theater

Thank you :)

It all depends on the individual dress. Is there sufficient letdown in the bodice to give it a modern drop waist look? Or is there sufficient fabric in the old skirt to make a waist band to match, and extend the bodice? Are there stiffened skirt panels that can be reused? I would say if you want it properly stiffened so that it has that shape (most people think soft skirts are actually soft, but they must have stiffener to get the right ID shape) approximately $500. Without stiffener would be less. (NT)..Tuesday, January 08, 09:04:05am

Took my dress to a seamstress who designs and makes wedding dresses and she put on a beautiful white skirt for $200 dollars (NT)Looked like it belonged on dressWednesday, January 09, 01:29:22pm

Different dressmakers have a different idea of what makes a "basic" skirt (inside)--Saturday, January 12, 09:08:21am

OP here, thanks for all these replies but I've decided to take a pass on the dress. Going to go with one that needs less updating. (NT)thank youMonday, January 14, 09:08:43am
