Subject: So what's old is new again? ;) Thank you both for your input. I was worried the general style of the dress might be dated (more)

In reply to: mp 's message, "I though Gavin was doing a lot of all-sequin fabrics recently. Seems like glitterball would fit in quite well next to those." on Friday, January 11, 08:25:16am

The waist was a drop waist for the time the dress was made (2006), but I think now the drop waists are even lower? And of course the fabrics seem to be different nowadays.

Perhaps I'll take the dress to a local seamstress and get her thoughts on how much easy it would be to modify and the costs involved, and go from there. Main issue is that I'm taller than most dancers, around 5'10", so it's hard to find a used dress that would be long enough for me, especially on a tighter budget.

My personal feeling is that the very low drop waist doesn't look good on everyone. If you already have a long torso for your height, the very low waist looks strange. I have short legs and drop-waist looks terrible on me. (NT)mpTuesday, January 15, 10:06:22am
