Hi all, I am quite creative and have made two ruffle skirts for my two youngest daughters dancing. (My first attempt at making anything and went well!)
However I'm really hoping to have a go at making a proper solo dress. I borrowed a sewing machine which was pretty basic, I do want to invest in a decent machine but I'm not sure what's best. Could someone please give me a bit of a list of the basics required to start making Irish dance dresses? This would be an amazing help, any tips would be greatly appreciated. Three dancing daughters = a desperate need to start making my own dresses!!! Many thanks

Try to find an older used machine. The reason for an older machine is because they are sturdier and have metal parts and gears. All you need is zig-zag and straight stitch. Find a sewing machine store where they fix machines and can show you how to work the machine. (NT)Have fun!Thursday, January 31, 07:32:51pm

Have you found this website yet? (inside) I don't think Ann talks about machines, but just about everything else. Don't pay any attention to the "old style" dresses in the pictures. The info she has still applies....otdmThursday, January 31, 08:15:15pm
