Subject: I always make a mock-up, but I usually get a chance to measure in person. However, when I cannot do it myself, I send off a bodice made of cotton and ask the client to take it in where needed. They can use pins, needles, even staples. But of course you can refuse, if you feel uncomfortable.

So far it has worked for me

In reply to: If I can't see her in person can I refuse to make the dress? 's message, "Has anyone ever insisted on having a mock up bodice fitting. I have a client who I know I will not be able to fit without seeing her in person and do not want to make the dress without having first seen her. Shipping a bodice would not work either as the figure is a challenging one.I've always been able to make things work long distance but no my limitations." on Wednesday, September 26, 08:45:36am

BTW, they sent the mock-up bodice back after adjusting it and I altered the pattern accordingly. The price of a few stamps for them to send it back was a good trade for a better-fitting dress. (NT)APSaturday, September 29, 05:51:25am
