Subject: I do a lot of dress alterations and recently there have been a number of dresses where the velcro used for the cape is stuck onto the dress. PLEASE DO NOT USE STICK ON VELCRO as it will leave marks on most fabrics and completely destroy velvet. when alterations are necessary.

Thanks for your help

Yes, it is easier in the short term but for long term wear it is completely impractical.

I couldn't agree with you more. And if the velcro does come loose, it's such an industrial grade that even my old beater machine and heavy duty needles can't go thru it. Please do not use sticky back velcro. (NT)SNDMSunday, October 14, 08:34:01pm

Who would use that rather than sew-on velcro (NT)?Sunday, October 14, 11:01:39pm

BNDM's and their customers don't complain (NT)Of courseSunday, October 14, 11:08:18pm

The dress owners wouldn't know unless they need to move the velcro. Most are also sewn down, so they see stitching and think it should be moveable.OPSunday, October 14, 11:31:43pm

A dancer approached me in her brand new BNDM dress and asked me to stick a piece of Velcro on her dress /cape to hold it in place properly. The BNDM sent the Velcro pieces with the costume. I wouldn't do it. I would not put it on one of my own dresses, so I was not going to put it on hers. (NT)Hmmm...Monday, October 15, 10:51:29pm
