Subject: They are very similar, but not an exact copy. When you break it down, only the knot work on the center bodice is close enough to be considered "copying." The sleeves are different, the skirt is different, the back is different, the collar is different, and there are very slight differences in the front bodice design. The only person that has a potential claim anyway is Elevation, and it is not clear if they would win. Copyright is a very slippery slope.

Technically, they probably changed 60% or so of the design. Realistically, the knotwork is an exact copy and the other changes look fairly minor when looking at them side by side. The dresmaker may or may not have known that copying is a no-no, but it is technically elevations business. (NT)--Wednesday, October 31, 09:40:39am
