Subject: Layers and skirt structure

I am back to making more dresses after a wee break. I am planning to use twinkle satin for the main body, however it seems quite light/see-through. What "layers" are dressmakers currently using for twinkle satin and how easy is it to work with. Also is it durable?
I am planning to do a pleated skirt and have looked under several BNDM made skirts. Some are quite structured and some have little or no structure under the skirt.I am interested to know what amount of structure dressmakers are currently using and whether you vary it at all (age, build of dancer etc?).
