Subject: C13 fault - Help me please

I need some help with a C13 fault on my TL1000sx.
The fault relates to airbox pressure or an abnormality with the sensor.
I was riding back from the Assen motogp round and the bike started cutting out at low rpm - the fault had appeared on the clocks the previous day.
I've cleaned the filter and sensor. But there is a fair amount of oil in the airbox, and I've just noticed the bike misfires at approx 2-3000 rpm.
Would a sensor problem cause this? I've tried to test the sensor, but don't really know what I'm doing (I mean, where do you stick the meter probes, I can't get any contact on the wires without stripping them).
I'd really appreciate any help you guys can offer. I'm wary of taking it to a dealer without having a rough idea of the fault first - I was badly ripped off a couple of years ago.
