Hi Julia. I'm not aware of any reports in the literature of someone with latex allergy having an allergic reaction to a product made with hevea wood. This question has come up in the past and a couple of latex allergy experts felt there was very little risk. There are a couple references in the literature on this topic, please see below. The full text of the first is available for free online. The second article isn't, but I can e-mail you the full text if you're interested.
"We have also previously found minute amounts of NRL allergens in sawdust from Hevea brasiliensis (unpublished data), a notable fact, since woods from rubber trees are commercially used." [Cross-reacting allergens in natural rubber latex and jelutong]
"It is possible that NRL allergens, which may be present in newly cut timber, would degrade during prolonged storage, and it cannot be concluded from this study that Hb wood products can never cause allergic reactions in NRL-sensitized individuals. Besides, this study concerns only a single product. With these reservations, it can be concluded, however, that the risk of allergic reactions due to contact with products made from Hb wood seems low. More studies of Hb wood products and timbers of different ages and after different treatments should be performed before making a definitive statement."
