Hi Janine. The latex that holds the fibers and backing together in carpet is styrene-butadiene (SB) latex. SB latex is synthetic and doesn't contain any of the proteins to which latex allergic individuals react. Please see Myths and Truths about Carpet and SB Latex vs. Natural Latex.
