Subject: Hearing Aids

Hi,
I was diagnosed with severe latex allergy in the late 1980's. I am hard of hearing and wear hearing aids. I bought Phonak Valeo hearing aids in 2006 and began having allergic reactions after wearing them for about two years. I was told they were latex free by the audiologist who had contacted the company. When I began having reactions- my ear canals swell and close, the company said the aids were latex free, but had a small amount inside the aid that doesn't touch the ear so I should not have problems. I do and this was verified by my doctor. Does anyone know of a true latex free hearing aid? I do not want to spend over $3,000 for a set I have to discard because of manufacturer's incomplete understanding of latex allergies. Thank you.
