Gosh, I wish they would stay with black skirts & white blouses right through PW. When my daughter saw Riverdance at 3 & begged for 2 years to learn to dance like that, she always said *dance* & nothing about the clothes.
We stayed with the bun on top of head plus fake hair scrunchy & little tiara for years, right until she got into Prelims earlier this autumn. Before the bun, I styled her (med.length, blond) hair into a pageboy & hairsprayed it good & solid. She looked much neater IMHO than the others with the great big rugs on their heads, & she placed when she danced well & didn't when her dancing wasn't good.
Now I am doing her makeup & keeping it simple--no brassy hard face here, just lip gloss, a little mascara, & a teeny bit of glitter dust sprinkled on 'cause I think that's a fun kid thing. Purple eyeshadow going halfway to her temples isn't going to be what gets her a first.
