When my daughter moved into Novice there were no school dresses available (school was in middle of changing dresses), so she danced a couple of events in the blk skirt & wh blouse until the teacher found a used solo for us (She is particular about which solos the kids choose). The overworked seamstress was making new sch dresses for the team dancers who had to have them, and others just had to wait---fine with me! This one cost much less than a new school dress would have. No one seemed to care she was in the skirt & blouse & she placed well enough for someone who had just gotten into the class, 2nds & 3rds! I think this is proof enough that parents are way overdoing the dress, wig & makeup business. Too many "stage Moms."
Maybe parents *should* petition an comisiun to tighten up dress rules & get back to simple flowing dress like the adults wear! Isn't it supposed to be about the dancing, not looking like Las Vegas?
