SEX/LOVE SCENE RATING
Limp=> Bad, little or NO SEX AT ALL!
Erect==> Good sex toward the end.
Boner===> Good sex half-way through and thereafter.
STIFF====> Good sexual tension throughout the book, and when it happens, you feel you've been there already.
HUGH=====> GREAT SEX in the first 1/4 of book and throughout the book.

So I'm checking out the new releases page on a book store website and I see J.R. WARD WRITING AS Jessica Bird.

Anyone read any of these?

I so want to try one! I keep hearing about how great J.R. Ward is but I am not really into para too much, so I have not read her....

Just wondering if anyone here has checked out any of her titles 'writing as' Jessica Bird.

"The Witness" by Nora Roberts -- Heather, Sunday, August 12, 06:53:51pm
Has anyone read this? I read it about 2 weeks ago, and thought it was FANTASTIC. I'm a huge J.D. Robb fan, and have loved almost every book in that series. However, Nora Roberts books and mostly hit and miss, with mostly misses...so I'm always hesitant to read her books sometimes, unless someone makes a recommend on it. I had heard raves about this one, so I decided to get it, and boy am I glad I did. Personally, for me, it's one of her best books ever. Such a gripping storyline, with a wonderful and unique heroine and a delicious hero.

If you've read it...I'd like to know your thoughts on it, and if you haven't read it...GET IT!!!

This so sucks. I had my appendix removed at midnight and today is my birthday.Guess I won't be able to see the Balloon Rally and Hamburger Fest. On the brighter side Josh, Crystal, Lexie, Rob and the kids. Bought me my first Kindle (the Kindle Touch) it should be here on Tuesday. I don't know whether to laugh in joy or give myself a few days of self pity

Hi all.Sorry I haven't been around much.I'll get my sad news over with first.I had to put my old horse,Blue,down Friday night.She was 30 years old but it was still like tearing a piece out of me or something.She was a papered/registered Appaloosa,yet had no Appy characteristics,so was banned from competing in any 'official' Appaloosa horse club events.As a kid,that made me mad enough that I started doing serious research into her pedigree,which turned out to have more Quarter horses and Thoroughbreds in it than anything else,including the great Man-O-War,about 5-6 generations back.Not kidding.I was elated at that,of course,and treasured her all the more and poo-poohed their silly club for not being good enough for my equine princess anyway :) She was many beautiful colors over her life,from the spunky 2 yr old blue roan filly I got as a present from my Mom for my 10th birthday,to a gunmetal grey,a GORGEOUS dappled grey,then flea-bitten,and finally white in her stately old age.(I'll send Beaty a pic for the Bridge)We traveled around the San Diego county horseshow circuit in the late 80's,and I'll never forget the time a man came up after a show in which we had won several classes and offered $2000 for her on the spot.When I refused,he upped it to $2500.I laughed and told him she wasn't for sale at any price.She was a skilled athlete and was trained for stadium jumping and could do dressage if we had to,although both of us enjoyed tearing around he!!-bent for leather on the cross-country course most of all.She was a sweetheart,fearless,and had so much drive and will and courage that it was pure joy to ride her.I bred her once and got a beautiful,feisty filly out of her that is now 22 yrs old and still full of pi$$ and vinegar,and I wouldn't want her any other way:)She is the very image of her mother,which is a definite comfort now.Blue was a very special,once-in-a-lifetime horse,and I'm thankful for all the great times she gave me.She was a love,and I'll cherish all my pics and memories forever.I always thought I would have my Mom to help me through losing Blue,but I know Mom will take good care of her for me and that my four-legged friend isn't suffering anymore:)She was a gift that I was lucky enough to call my own for 28 years.She was a family member to me,and I'll love and miss her always.

On a happier note,I have got two cute little fuzzball ducklings!!! Hubs got them the day after Blue died,which he won't admit is to keep me from moping around over her,but they really are just so cute.I like ducks.I'm sure I'll hate the mess outside when they're older,but they are darling,and we already have chickens,so sh*t is sh*t,I say to that :)

School starts in a couple weeks here,and I have mixed feelings about that.I'll be glad to not have the squabbling,but I am nervous about my son getting a good teacher so we don't have a repeat of last year's problems.I've given myself a deadline of Christmas break to notice problems & see if a transfer is needed,and sometimes I think even that is leaving it too long.Thoughts?

I started reading The last Arrow by Marsha Canham a couple weeks ago,and I just can't seem to find the time to sit down and finish.It's really good,too,so far,so you would think I would just make the time,but i guess I have just been in a funk about life in general lately,reading included.I'm sure it will pass.Hope you are all staying cool and maybe getting some of this much needed rain!

Hey everyone!

Hope you are enjoying your summer so far. We are having another heat wave here...but that is to be expected for July....

I've been letting my aunt borrow some of my books. I've been giving her the ones from my keeper shelf and she has been flying thru them...then she sent one home to me that she had picked up and liked. "The Ideal Man" by Julie Garwood. After her rave review, I was looking forward to reading/trying another contemporary by Ms. Garwood and I was expecting it to be as good as her older historicals.

For some reason, I just can't get into her contemporary books. And I really wanted to. Anyone else out there reading them? Title suggestions?

Guess that is all for now...

- I sometimes have that same problem Robin. It took me FOREVER to get into the In Death books by JD Robb. Looking back, it was because the genre was such a departure from I knew I loved by Nora Roberts. Bottom line, I think we do ourselves and the author a disservice when our brain refuses to let them change voices (as it were) but sometime you can't help it.
